The Chester, Illinois, community is remembering the life of Karen D. Bowman, who passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 52. Her passing has left family, friends, and loved ones reflecting on a life defined by faith, compassion, and deep devotion to those closest to her.
Born on August 24, 1971, in Chester, Illinois, Karen was the daughter of the late Darell and Lola (Blair) Seibold Sr. She remained closely connected to her roots throughout her life, building strong relationships within her family and community. Known for her warmth and generous spirit, Karen touched the lives of many as a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished friend.
Karen married Bobby Bowman on September 30, 2023, embracing a new chapter filled with love and companionship. She was a proud mother to Justin Stehl and Alyssa Stehl, who were at the center of her life. Her love for her children was evident in everything she did, and the memories they shared together will remain a lasting source of comfort.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Bowman; her children, Justin (Brooke) Stehl of Carbondale and Alyssa Stehl of Chester; her aunt, Debbie (Ron) Jones of Blue Eye, Missouri; and her siblings, Lisa (David) Tindall, Sarah (Brian) Beam, Shelly Gonzalez, Rebecca (Daniel) Hahn, Daniel Seibold, Christopher (Denise) Seibold, Darell (Dawn) Seibold Jr., and Shawn (Mike) DeRousse. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Julie Seibold.
Karen worked as a housekeeper at The Manor at Craig Farms in Chester, where she was valued for her dedication and caring nature. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she attended First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove, where she found strength and guidance.
Outside of her work and faith, Karen enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. She cherished trips to the beach and moments spent cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, creating joyful memories with her loved ones. Her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and her adventurous spirit made her presence truly special.
In accordance with her wishes, Karen was cremated. A visitation and memorial service were held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove, officiated by Pastor Dan Ahlenius.
In honor of her memory, memorial contributions may be made to her husband, Bobby Bowman, to help establish a college fund for her daughter, Alyssa Stehl, with donations accepted through Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
Karen D. Bowman will be remembered for her unwavering love, her faith, and the kindness she shared with everyone around her. Though she is no longer here, her legacy lives on through her family, her friendships, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
